Customizable two-hour classes at your location. We will start with a discussion of nautical fancywork, show a few examples, and then each attendee will make their own item. Multiple options available, feel free to reach out for a quote.
Site-specific installations for your home, restaurant, or museum space. We can incorporate ropework into many different elements of a space, including railings, mirrors and picture frames, lighting, and sculpture.
Come and explore some of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world! I work as a captain for the Sailing Collective, where we provide luxury sailing vacations. If instruction is more your speed, I personally offer American Sailing Association classes, and can charter a vessel for you anywhere in the world.
About
My name is Kyle Taylor, and I’m a sailor. One of the great inspirations of sailing is the fact that we have been intimately connected with the water for our entire human history. So many cultures developed according to their access to bodies of water, and a kaleidoscope of ways of being in relation to the sea has grown out of that fact. As I sail around the world, one of the ways that I connect with a place is by trying to tap into that maritime way of being. Whether it’s using found materials or objects, or learning about a local culture’s craft, it’s through making things that puts my work into that larger conversation. My efforts with Seafarer Craft are to bring the world of maritime craft and handwork to a wider audience, and to make one-of-a-kind objects in that spirit.
